In many urban areas, such as Boston, it is difficult to find affordable transportation like buses that will drive people to farmers markets, or sites that sell fresh produce. Along with this, some transits limit the amount of items a person can bring with them on the vehicle. Walking to a grocery store is nearly impossible in a food desert, so some form of transportation is something people living there cannot get around.

Subsequently, bus routes need to be adjusted in cities where people heavily rely on public transportation to do all of their errands. Bag limitations need to change as well, in order for people with larger families who need more groceries, to get everything they need. To help facilitate this, grocery bins could be added to public vehicles to help maximize the space and comfortability of its passengers. (National Center for Mobility Management)
